Keys to Successful Web Site Marketing
In an April 30 presentation in Akron, Ohio, to members of the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society, Polysort President Angela Charles described web site marketing as a “three-legged stool.”
“The first leg is good content, the second is professional design/coding, and the third is industry-wide promotion,” she said. “Without any one of these elements, your web site will fail to deliver the traffic and leads you expect.”
Ms. Charles explained how each of the three elements interact and impact user experience and search engine placement. The most important function of any company web site, she said, is “visibility Internet-wide.”
The industrial sector has embraced Internet as an important means for gathering product information.
According to a 2006 study by GlobalSpec, industrial sector technical buyers and engineers say that the most-valued information online is detailed product information, including technical specifications.
The least-valued Internet information is e-commerce, on-line ordering and on-line order tracking.
Internet has surpassed print resources as the most important way that technical buyers and engineers locate product information. The survey showed that 73% of these buyers go to online resources first to locate product information before resorting to a trade publication or print directory.
